Melissa Melissa has always known that she wanted to work with animals. Growing up in the mountains of Jackson Hole, WY, she participated in many 4-H clubs ranging from visual arts to rabbits and dogs She received many awards including State Champion Novice Obedience with her golden retriever. Melissa attended Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in special effects cinema make-up. She worked on several sets creating various monsters and realistic " wounds" for several years. When Melissa moved to Indianapolis, she knew that she wanted to return to her true passion, animals. She accepted a position at Petco as a groomer's assistant. She later attended the grooming academy and apprenticed with her salon manager to refine her grooming skills. She eventually became the salon manager where she surpassed the salon expectations and turned the salon into the district leader. Melissa has 2 daughters, Jaden and Violet that share her love of animals. They have an Airedale terrier/ beagle mix and a Lakeland terrier, along with 2 cats (1 is fostered for Hamilton County Humane Society) and 1 chinchilla. Melissa is very happy to have found a home at Hair of the Dog! She looks forward to seeing the puppies each and every day. There is not a better feeling than seeing the happiness on an owner's face when they see their babies all spiffed up and looking top notch! And of course, making those babies feel the best too! ~Canine CPR Certified
